Glowing Skin Starts Here!

We’ve put together a brief skincare guide to help you address your main concerns and tell you which of our non-toxic, clean, kind and safe products will give you the greatest benefits. Keep an eye on our blog for future posts on different skin types and how to best care for your own skin.

Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are exactly as they sound – marks left on the skin due to it stretching.  They are extremely common during pregnancy, appearing as the skin quickly stretches to accommodate your growing belly.  They can also occur during weight-gain.  Initially, the marks resemble reddish or purplish lines, but they do fade to silvery, feathery lines and sometimes, they disappear altogether. However, you can avoid stretch marks by keeping the skin hydrated using products such as Earth Mama Belly Oil, Earth Mama Belly Butter, and Edible Beauty AU Mum & Bub Cocoa Barrier Cream. Use these as a preventative measure but also if you notice marks appearing as they will help fade stretch marks. We also highly recommend Earth Mama Skin and Scar Balm for stubborn stretch marks (and other scars/marks).

Eczema

Eczema is a skin condition that affects many people, appearing as red, itchy and often broken patches of skin on the palms, feet, inner elbows, knees and really anywhere.  Usually, eczema is treated with steroid creams but of course – no Mama wants to use harsh steroids and luckily there’s an award-winning product that we highly recommend, gentle enough for pregnancy.  Try gentle yet powerful Earth Mama Organics Eczema Cream Earth Mama Organics Non-Scents Castile Baby Wash, both Awarded the Seal of Acceptance™ by the National Eczema Association for passing the association’s rigid standards. Also, try Edible Beauty AU Mum and Bub Cocoa Barrier Cream for soothing, calming relief.

Dry/Sore Nipples

A result of breastfeeding, many Nursing Mamas experience dry, cracked and sore nipples and the best way to deal with them naturally is with Earth Mama Organics Organic Nipple Butter (which also comes as a vegan-friendly option – Earth Mama Organics Organic Vegan Nipple Butter) and for extra-relief, use Edible Beauty AU Mum and Bub Cocoa Barrier Cream.

Dry Skin and Rashes

For those Mamas and Bubbas who suffer with patches of dry skin – use Edible Beauty AU Mum & Bub Cocoa Barrier Cream to soften skin and reduce discomfort. For severe dry skin and rashes, we’d also recommend Earth Mama Organics Eczema Cream which is completely natural and oh so gentle!

Scars (C-Section) and Burns

C-section Mamas – fade your scar gently, safely and quickly using Earth Mama Organics Skin and Scar Balm. Just massage this into your scar area once it’s healed enough to do so. Do this twice daily and your scar will fade quickly to a fine, silvery line. This natural product is just as effective to use on burns to reduce inflammation and burn scars.

Diaper Rash

Soiled bottoms can cause diaper rash – and it’s extremely common. While it’s uncomfortable for your Bubba it’s nothing serious and can be dealt with using kind, gentle products to relieve redness, dry areas, soreness and an angry looking rash in the diaper area. We recommend Earth Mama Organics Diaper Balm, Earth Mama Organics Calendula Baby Oil, and Edible Beauty AU Mum & Bub Cocoa Barrier Cream.  All will help to alleviate symptoms and reduce inflammation and redness.

Cradle Cap

This condition is nothing to worry about and affects most babies at some point! It resembles flaky, oily patches on your baby’s head and will eventually disappear on its own. It’s not sore or uncomfortably for Bubba but it can look concerning! However, don’t worry about it at all and never pick the sores. You can use Earth Mama Organics Calendula Baby Oil or Edible Beauty Mum & Bub Cocoa Barrier Cream. Both can be massaged ever so gently into your baby’s scalp to reduce the appearance of Cradle Cap.

Baby Drooly Chins and Runny Noses

Teething babies and those with runny noses will likely get red, dry and sore patches on the chin and above the lip area. To reduce discomfort and restore calm, soft skin we’d recommend Edible Beauty AU Mum & Bub Cocoa Barrier Cream. In severe cases, use Earth Mama Organics Eczema Cream, which is super-kind, yet super-strong.

Sunscreen Protection

There’s no need to use harsh chemicals on your skin Mama (or your baby’s skin). Edible Beauty’s Basking Beauty Natural Sunscreen is so clean, you can eat it and it provides SPF50, so you won’t burn, protecting your skin and your baby’s from the sun’s harsh UV rays.
